About the Role

This role manages project management and process improvement for Hachette Book Group (HBG) client onboarding and the Project Excellence portfolio. It serves as the primary point of contact for new clients and supports broader HBG change management initiatives to improve efficiency, revenue, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-functional projects, defining scope, schedules, milestones, status, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Lead project initiation, including requirements, scope definition, and planning.
  • Run client-focused governance meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure risks, issues, and dependencies are understood, managed, and communicated.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery across departments and hold stakeholders accountable.
  • Map current-state onboarding and client-management processes, identifying bottlenecks and redesigning them.
  • Lead process and automation initiatives to ease client onboarding.
  • Build and maintain the shared playbook for client integration.
  • Partner with Product Management and Client Services to streamline client management.
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives across various HBG departments.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience in publishing, project/program management, business operations, or business transformation.
  • Demonstrated process-improvement experience, including mapping, redesigning, and standardizing processes.
  • Business and operations literacy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or workstreams.
  • Ability to drive outcomes and accountability without direct authority.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable with data and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Familiarity with macros and Order to Cash or title-management systems is a plus.
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset.
  • Experience in publishing is a plus.
