About the Role
This position will support the on-site network communications requirements across the University of Texas at Austin environment. Enterprise Technology is dedicated to supporting the mission of the University of Texas at Austin of unlocking potential and preparing future leaders of the state. Responsibilities
- Under supervision maintain network asset information, equipment sparing process, and lab organization.
- Under supervision provide semi-skilled field support to install, troubleshoot, and maintain the university’s network and voice systems to provide requested improvements for campus units.
- Maintain relationships with ET and unit representatives to address immediate needs, troubleshoot network and telecom systems, and maintain university inventory items.
- Provide basic support for standard network design, troubleshooting, and after-hours event support.
- Provide feedback and identify problems with organizational evaluation of new network technologies, proof of concept projects, and configuration automation.
- Raise visibility of issues to network engineers of issues with automation processes, fault detection, standardized operations, and life cycle management.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree and basic network certifications (CCT, CCNA), or equivalent work experience.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing and LAN switching).
- 1+ years of experience with network operations or desktop support.
- This position requires independent work and access to CJIS systems and information.
- Candidates must complete CJIS training and pass a CJIS background check and fingerprint screening.
- U.S. Citizen, resident, or officially recognized asylee - Applicant selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
- This position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.
- This job requires a class "C" operator's license.
- The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
- If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
- The driving record will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a university owned vehicle.

- $55,488 + depending on qualifications
