About the Role
RSM is seeking a Senior Manager for its Industrial Products assurance team. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse clients in the manufacturing, wholesale, and distribution sectors, contributing to RSM's leadership in the industrial products space.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service, including coordinating the auditing of financial statements and disclosures.
- Assess risk and design/communicate audit procedures to engagement teams.
- Understand and utilize RSM’s Audit Methodology.
- Manage multiple engagements, oversee status, and ensure project milestones are met.
- Monitor and review work product of Senior Associates, Supervisors, and Managers, providing coaching.
- Identify technical accounting matters early and assess their impact on financial statements.
- Review work product and communicate audit status to clients, assessing resource needs.
- Maintain client contact throughout the year to understand their goals and strategies.
- Provide insightful business advice and act as a trusted advisor.
- Develop others within the Firm through training and career development support.
- Share relevant industry publication information with clients.
- Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Understand RSM’s lines of business and identify opportunities to make valuable introductions.
- Develop strategies to utilize external relationships for business growth.
- Manage project profitability and evaluate strategies for Firm growth.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Stay updated on GAAP and Firm standards and policies.
- Willingness to travel 10% of the year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Active CPA (or equivalent certification) required.
- 9+ years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment with extensive external audit engagement exposure.
- Proven experience leading and managing multiple audit engagements from planning through completion, including overseeing teams, managing scope, timelines, and budgets, and ensuring quality.
- Excellent technical proficiency in accounting and auditing standards (GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements), with the ability to apply risk-based audit methodology, control testing, substantive procedures, and financial statement review.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with firm personnel and clients, manage client relationships, and respond to client needs.
- Proven client relationship and business development experience, with a history of building, maintaining, and growing sustainable client relationships.
- Applies sound business judgment, risk awareness, and ethical integrity.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills, including mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
- Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods.
- Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours and travel to client sites as required.
