About the Role

The Contemporary Austin is seeking a Venue Attendant to manage rental event operations at its Laguna Gloria and Jones Center venues. This role serves as the primary representative during private events, managing client and vendor relations, providing facility support, and resolving issues in real-time.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee events from start to finish, ensuring adherence to contract terms and museum rules through expectation setting and compliance walkthroughs.
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for event planners, vendors, and guests, providing venue information and ensuring upkeep of communal spaces.
  • Communicate with on-site vendors regarding load-in, event execution, and load-out, preventing early entry and overtime.
  • Ensure rental event spaces are maintained in good condition.
  • Operate a golf cart to transport guests within the Laguna Gloria property.
  • Determine appropriate actions for defiant or negligent guests, clients, and/or vendors.
  • Coordinate with vendors and event planners for timely removal of items and trash without causing damage.
  • Respond to and document on-site incidents and damages using Incident Report and Event Review Form.
  • Collaborate with other venue attendants, visitor engagement, and facilities teams for venue preparation and maintenance during public hours and event load-in.
  • Complete end-of-event procedures, including site closing and follow-up documentation for the rentals team.

Requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail, flexibility, and forward-thinking to mitigate issues.
  • Strong client relations, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation to both museum locations.
  • Comfortable working late evenings (until 1am/2am).
  • Available to work a minimum of 4-5 shifts monthly.
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Able to lift and carry items 20lbs and up as needed.
