About the Role
The Deer Park Community Residence Facility (Deer Park CR) is a trauma-informed therapeutic program providing intensive residential mental health services. It helps youth strengthen family connections and improve outcomes through a youth-guided, family-driven, and trauma-sensitive approach. The 24-hour facility offers a wide range of therapeutic, mental health, medical, recreational, and independent living supports.
Responsibilities
- Develop therapeutic recreation activities.
- Complete initial recreational assessment within 4 weeks of admission and every 3 months thereafter.
- Complete monthly recreation notes for each resident, ensuring community rehabilitation services align with the service plan.
- Assist in coordinating general leisure and pro-social activities.
- Develop, oversee, and participate in recreational activities as appropriate.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct resident project participation as indicated in their service plan.
- Coordinate recreation activities with CR staff.
- Lead and interpret the recreation program to enhance involvement of staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Locate, recommend, and involve residents in community recreation programs.
- Order supplies and equipment for recreation services with prior approval.
- Develop individual goals for residents with leisure time organization difficulties, collaborating with staff to integrate goals into recreational activities.
- Establish community linkages for recreational activities.
- Attend in-service training as indicated.
- Serve as a liaison between weekday and weekend staff, including working weekends.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver license, and fingerprinting.
- Compliance with health regulations for physical/mantoux testing.
- Attend NCI class for certification/re-certification and pass the test upon completion.
