About the Role

The On-Call Restaurant & Event Support Associate provides flexible operational support during festivals, community events, catering functions, periods of increased business, employee absences, and other short-term staffing needs. This position may be assigned to assist as a kitchen porter, food server, event support team member, or general restaurant support associate, depending on business needs. Assignments and hours are offered on an as-needed basis and are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up and breaking down food-service stations, tables, tents, equipment, signage, and supplies.
  • Load, unload, organize, and safely transport event materials.
  • Prepare service areas before an event begins.
  • Serve food and beverages while providing courteous and professional customer service.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked event stations.
  • Assist with crowd flow, order distribution, packaging, and other event-related needs.
  • Follow all event, food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety requirements.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Clean floors, walls, workstations, storage areas, and other assigned spaces.
  • Remove garbage, recycling, and waste according to established procedures.
  • Restock kitchen supplies and support food-preparation employees as directed.
  • Receive, move, organize, and properly store deliveries.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Greet customers professionally and provide prompt, friendly service.
  • Take, prepare, package, and distribute customer orders as assigned.
  • Serve food and beverages in accordance with company service standards.
  • Restock condiments, utensils, napkins, beverages, and service supplies.
  • Clean and sanitize tables, counters, dining areas, and service stations.
  • Assist with customer questions and refer complaints or concerns to management.
  • Follow established procedures when handling payments or using the point-of-sale system.
  • Report to different restaurant or event locations based on operational needs.
  • Provide temporary coverage during callouts, employee absences, vacancies, peak periods, and special projects.
  • Follow instructions from the General Manager, Event Supervisor, or designated team leader.
  • Comply with company policies concerning attendance, conduct, uniforms, food safety, sanitation, and customer service.
  • Perform other reasonable duties related to restaurant or event operations as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant, kitchen, serving, catering, or event experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to accept assignments with limited notice when available.
  • Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adjust to different assignments and locations.
  • Food-handler certification may be required depending on the assignment or location.
  • Must meet all applicable legal requirements for the assigned duties.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work around heat, cold, noise, cleaning products, and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions during festivals and special events.
  • Assignments may include weekdays, weekends, early mornings, evenings, holidays, festivals, and special events.
  • Employees may accept assignments based on their availability; however, once an assignment is accepted, dependable and timely attendance is required.
