About the Role
Madison is seeking an Empowerment Director to plan, organize, conduct, evaluate, and facilitate departmental programs, activities, and events focused on substance and alcohol abuse prevention for youth aged 6-18. The role involves providing individual guidance and referrals to empower youth towards healthy lifestyles and positive decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and facilitate workshops utilizing prescribed evidence-based programs to empower youth to avoid tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
- Promote proper decision-making and the importance of life-long healthy decision-making and behaviors.
- Prepare members to be leaders, upstanding citizens, and community role models.
- Establish and maintain relationships with agencies and community-based programs for referrals related to drug and developmental problems.
- Guide program participants individually and in group settings for social, school, or family adjustments.
- Initiate and maintain community contacts with families, schools, and other organizations to enhance programs and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a state-accredited university/college.
- Minimum of 2 years in a related field.
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds (ages 6-18) and organizational personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to empower youth with effective programming and leadership training in small group settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner.
