About the Role

As a Quality Engineer / Inspection Supervisor, you will work with a cross-functional team focusing on Quality Assurance and Quality Control. You will develop and implement processes for continuous improvement, plan and prioritize tasks, and ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. This role provides direct supervision to the Inspection staff to achieve efficiencies in support of company goals for cost containment, On-Time Delivery, and Customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct Inspection personnel to ensure parts, assemblies, and processes meet customer and Armstrong Quality requirements and support Production schedules.
  • Provide training and guidance on inspection methods and techniques, and track performance of Inspection personnel.
  • Lead regulatory compliance activities for UL, CSA, ETL, NSF, and Intertek for products manufactured in North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls.
  • Participate in maintaining the Quality and Environmental Management Systems (ISO9001 and ISO14001).
  • Participate in improving and maintaining Quality System documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Training documentation.
  • Contribute to and implement Quality plans by collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Design teams.
  • Participate in processing Corrective Action plans, including short-term actions, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Communicate Quality issues with various Armstrong functions, including Customer Service, Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics, and Production, as well as other Armstrong sites.
  • Communicate Quality issues with customers and suppliers.
  • Investigate and analyze inspection and test methodologies and implement as appropriate.
  • Participate in process analysis and improvement activities such as Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and establishing Control Plans.
  • Evaluate new products and components through the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Contribute to achieving Quality goals and objectives by establishing and monitoring Quality metrics.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or qualified in a relevant technical discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years of direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management systems.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and trouble-shooting techniques.
  • Working computer knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Infor LN is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pumps, HVAC, Heat Exchangers, pressure vessels, motors, VFD drives, sensors, and controls is preferred.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills with customers and suppliers.
  • Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action.
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
