About the Role

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) seeks a Community Schools Director to lead efforts in integrating social services within schools, fostering an environment where students are ready to learn. This role involves a holistic approach to improving academic performance through strong partnerships among principals, parents, teachers, and community-based organizations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an advisor to principals, coordinating partner work and aligning it with school faculty.
• Provide primary leadership for all Community School work, including supervising and hiring program staff.
• Organize and oversee asset and needs assessments, gathering input from stakeholders to determine student and family needs.
• Act as a point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school, brokering new partnerships aligned with school goals.
• Develop strong relationships with teachers, parents, and students.
• Manage all grant obligations, including data collection, reporting, and special events.
• Work with Parent Coordinators to ensure meaningful family participation opportunities.
• Identify high-need students, coordinate interventions, and track their impact.
• Build relationships and mechanisms to link the school day with expanded learning opportunities.
• Coordinate training and technical assistance to ensure cultural and linguistic appropriateness of services, programs, and communication.
• Assist school and partner agencies with resource management and grant maintenance.
• Liaise with the Career & Education division for school-based SYEP and WLG programs.
• Track progress toward outcomes and contractual obligations, developing action plans to address gaps.
• Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing.
• Participate in meetings and staff development sessions with CHLDC and partner high schools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
• Must have a flexible schedule, with some evening/weekend hours potentially required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, highly organized and motivated.
• Ability to work effectively with school-aged youth, educators, families, and communities from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience working in school-based settings.
• Knowledge of community organizing, student support services, and youth development theories.
• Ability to work collaboratively with strong relationship-building skills.
• Must clear DOE fingerprinting and background authorizations.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
