About the Role
You are our first embedded hire and will own the firmware and software that turn a box of parts into a coordinated power plant, including real-time control on MCUs and orchestration on embedded Linux. You will set the foundation for the entire software effort and bring the system to life.
Responsibilities
- Architect and write firmware for generator start/stop sequencing, real-time power/current monitoring, contactor control, and safety interlocks.
- Own the RTOS MCU layer, including deterministic timing, drivers, and communications.
- Own the embedded Linux orchestration on the command PCBA.
- Define interfaces between firmware, control PCBAs, inverter, and battery.
- Build telemetry, logging, and health monitoring for field reliability.
- Establish the foundation: toolchain, build system, hardware-in-the-loop, and patterns for future embedded hires.
Requirements
- Experience with power systems, battery management, inverters, or generator controls.
- Background in safety-critical firmware or functional safety.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
