About the Role
As a Product Line Manager (PLM), you will develop and execute a product line strategy to achieve sales and profitability targets for the Gorilla Glass business. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enable sales of cover glass for touch-enabled laptops, influencing product development, value proposition, and sales tools, while also assisting with forecasting and collaborating with various internal organizations for day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional product team consisting of functional leads from Development, Product Engineering, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing and/or Sales
- Develop and execute the product line plan through collaboration with the product team
- Understand and manage the profit and loss of the product line
- Develop and articulate value propositions that improve margins for Corning’s products and enable new/enhanced selling opportunities with customers
- Work with Program Management to develop and launch new products
- Develop the product roadmap and manage the product line through the stages of innovation, from product concept through commercialization and life-cycle management
- Support the development of product pricing strategies
- Understand downstream market requirements and assess competitive threats and implications for the product line
- Address new product/special requests by developing a business case (including P&L and balance sheet implications) to determine the feasibility and pricing requirements
- Work with Manufacturing and Sales to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and cost reduction in the manufacturing process both at Corning plant(s) and the customer site, as appropriate
- Manage the obsolescence process, as necessary, to extract maximum value through the end of the product lifecycle
- Provide and maintain necessary sales tools such as positioning statement, value proposition presentation, and other sales tools to customer-facing organizations to ensure effective deployment of product line strategies
- Work with legal and sales teams to define contractual terms and participate in the approvals of the supply agreement process
- Work with marketing communications to support development of external communications, including product collateral, tradeshow and conference materials, press releases, public relations, web communications and social media
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (4 year) degree or business (4 year) degree with analytical background and strong potential for technical learning
- Minimum of 5 years work experience product line management, marketing, manufacturing, or engineering in an engineering based and customer-focused environment
- Demonstrated track record of managing projects and leading multi-functional teams
- Strong business acumen
- Strong analytical skills with able to turn quantitative analysis into meaningful business insights
- Demonstrated ability to interface and work in teams with people across functional and geographic boundaries
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage business relationships using combination of data driven analysis, strategic thinking, networking, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively in a fast-paced working environment supporting the Mobile Consumer Electronics industry
- Ability to handle stressful environment
- Well-organized, process-oriented with systematic approach to problem solving
- Self-starter, capable of fully owning a complex strategy project with limited supervision
- Leadership presence and credibility within the organization
- Demonstrated self-confidence, ability to effectively communicate and influence senior management
- Potential to grow into commercial leadership roles

Salary/Compensations
- $148,181.00 - $203,749.00
