About the Role

As a WellNow Patient Care Technician, you will be a vital part of the team, maintaining the connection between the front-end and clinical operations. You will contribute to improving the delivery and quality of healthcare to our Urgent Care patients and be part of a supportive medical community.

Responsibilities

  • Take patient history and obtain vital signs.
  • Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples, if certified.
  • Accurately complete paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samples.
  • Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, urine pregnancy, urinalysis, blood glucose levels.
  • Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patients.
  • Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ortho-glass preparation, EKG).
  • Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA).
  • Ensure equipment is in working order.
  • Log laboratory procedures when completed and process related paperwork using computer equipment.
  • Maintain examination rooms and stock necessary medical supplies.
  • Perform duties to ensure good patient flow.
  • Accompany the provider to the bedside.
  • Perform tasks to improve provider efficiency during the course of a shift.
  • Document the provider dictated patient history including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies.
  • Document patient medical history, physical examination findings, and procedures as performed by the provider.
  • Committed to the specialty of Urgent Care, with a focus on serving our communities with quick, convenient and quality care with continued clinical and patient experience training.
  • Explain to patients what insurances are accepted and those that are out of network, as well as be knowledgeable of all pricing.
  • Greet patients and complete the registration process in a timely manner.
  • Answer and appropriately triage phone calls.
  • Collect patient responsibility for visits.
  • Print, scan, and fax reports.
  • Clean the clinic before, during, and after shift.
  • Ensure accurate completion and timely scanning of all required Occupational Medicine documentation into the EMR system, maintaining compliance with company protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Complete the following Occupational Medicine testing: Urine Drug Screens, Breath Alcohol Testing, Hair Collection Drug Screens, DOT & Non-DOT Physicals, Vision and Audio Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing, Audiograms.

Requirements

  • 6+ months of experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role; OR equivalent education/certification in a related healthcare specialty.
  • Ability to identify equipment problems and correcting or notifying team leader.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.
  • Computer knowledge and skills, must be able to register patients on the computer in a timely manner; including use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR certification.
  • Excellent listening and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardize work practices.
  • Strong communication skills, including grammatical, spelling and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to work effectively under conditions requiring accuracy.
  • Capable of working well on a team.
  • Friendly and customer service oriented.
  • Ability to manage high call and patient volume.
