Responsibilities
- Print and assemble tax returns using firm software tools and Route Sheet instructions.
- Ensure all required client deliverables are included in documents saved to the document management system and prepared for delivery.
- Perform new client setup, process tax organizers, and scan client workpapers.
- Manage tax return delivery, workflow reporting, and due date tracking.
- Meet expectations for timeliness, responsiveness, accuracy, and service quality.
- Prepare tax client documents such as engagement letters and statements of work.
- Oversee the e-file process, including monitoring and releasing external client tax returns to taxing authorities.
- Ensure correct returns are released and all filing deadlines are met.
- Track for acceptance, transmission errors, and rejections, and resolve issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly master tax software and company tools.
- Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Problem-solving skills enabling independent decision-making.
- Working knowledge of technology tools required for assigned responsibilities.
- Effective organization and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- 0 to 3 years of related experience.
- Previous accounting industry/tax-related experience and knowledge of tax deadlines is a plus.
- RSM does not intend to hire entry-level candidates who will require sponsorship now or in the future.
- Recent U.S. college/university graduates with 1-2 years of progressive and relevant work experience (excluding internships) may be eligible as an experienced associate.
- Consideration for employment for qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records.
