About the Role

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Infection Preventionist to join our Quality and Patient Safety team. This role provides for a safe environment by identifying and minimizing infection risks for patients, employees, and visitors. The Infection Preventionist acts as a liaison and resource for Infection Prevention and Control, managing all related activities through surveillance, data reporting, analysis, and intervention development to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveillance, investigation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and communicable diseases.
  • Analyze infection prevention data and identify trends, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, nursing teams, and support departments to implement evidence-based infection prevention practices.
  • Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate response activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention policies, procedures, and educational programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and state requirements.
  • Provide consultation on isolation precautions, infection prevention practices, construction/renovation projects, and emerging infectious disease concerns.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary committees focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and infection prevention.
  • Educate staff, providers, and leadership on infection prevention best practices and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports, metrics, and recommendations to leadership teams and committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in health-related field.
  • 2 years of experience in acute health care required.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record, and able to travel locally.
  • Must share 24-hour responsibility for availability to respond to infection prevention and control concerns through scheduled on-call activities.
  • Computer software application skills such as Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease.
  • Knowledge of current patient care practice.

Salary/Compensations

  • Minimum Offer $70,449.60
  • Maximum Offer $119,974.40
