About the Role

ICON develops advanced construction technologies using proprietary 3D printing robotics, software, and advanced materials. The Senior Industrial Designer will join a multidisciplinary team to conceive, design, validate, and launch world-class products, contributing to the development of new products and processes for affordable, resilient, and sustainable shelter.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members and Executives to invent, design, engineer, and launch new products and services.
• Negotiate and collaborate cross-functionally with Hardware, Home, Controls, Material Science, and Software teams to refine product and service visions.
• Develop deep technical knowledge in diverse areas to understand design constraints and challenges, creating seamless processes and production solutions.
• Collaborate with outside vendors and internal experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetics, and production.
• Research new materials, production methods, and technology for projects.
• Perform a wide range of tasks daily, transitioning from studio work to field work as needed.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional work experience as an Industrial Designer.
• A body of work that has been produced or the understanding of how it can be produced.
• A healthy obsession with how things are made and how they work.
• Passion for materials and material exploration.
• A deep appreciation for aesthetics.
• Design craftsmanship: ability to create high-quality design work and manage its production with partners and vendors.
• Experience in hands-on prototyping, without relying solely on virtual design tools.
• Adept at communicating in a collaborative team environment and seeking optimum solutions with other team members.
• Must provide a PDF portfolio/website and resume/CV.
