About the Role

Directly supervise technical staff in the Hematology and Chemistry subsection of the Core Laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely patient sample testing and reporting. Oversee technical procedures, regulatory compliance, and staff delegation in collaboration with leadership. Assist in coordinating and supervising the overall operations of the Core Laboratory Section.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of technical staff assigned to the Hematology and Chemistry subsection of the Core Laboratory.
• Ensure patient samples are tested properly and correct results are reported within established turn-around-time.
• Responsible for all technical procedures and regulatory compliance for the Hematology and Chemistry subsection.
• Organize and delegate duties and responsibilities of the staff, in cooperation with Medical Director, Assistant Directors, and Pathologist, and Administrative Director.
• Assist in the coordination and supervision of the operations of the Core Laboratory Section.

Requirements

• Minimum of six (6) years in a clinical laboratory in a hospital setting.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Must possess verbal and spatial ability, form perception, finger and manual dexterity and clerical ability.
• Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Skills

• Knowledge of related theory, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of applicable instrumentation and analytical methods.
• Knowledge of quality control and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of current government regulations and leadership.
• Knowledge of laboratory information system – Preferred.

Experience Level

• Minimum of six (6) years in a clinical laboratory in a hospital setting.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Education Level

• Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field.
• New York State Licensed Laboratory Technologist.
• MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) – Preferred.
