About the Role
Loop is seeking a Payment Operations Lead to own, scale, and modernize the core engine that manages customer money movement. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for settlement flows, reconciliation, and building operational strategy. You will report to the Head of Engineering and collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to transition manual workflows into automated, well-instrumented operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily payment settlements across internal accounts, banking partners, and network providers.
- Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, failures, and returns.
- Forecast and monitor liquidity and projected settlement volumes.
- Manage the end-to-end chargeback process including dispute handling and root-cause analysis.
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for banking partners and payment processors.
- Perform daily three-way reconciliations between internal ledgers, processor reports, and bank statements.
- Design and operate internal controls to safeguard funds.
- Produce operational reports, KPIs, and dashboards for the executive team.
- Partner with Finance on month-end close activities.
- Act as the operational point person for audits and bank reviews.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for all payment workflows.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Data, and Product teams to automate manual inefficiencies.
- Approve the design of new payment features and operational tools.
- Define the 12 to 24-month roadmap for payment operations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in payment operations, financial operations, or treasury.
- Meaningful experience within a FinTech, payments company, bank, or processor.
- Proven experience running reconciliations and money movement at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to build or rebuild a payment operations function including SOPs, controls, and vendor relationships.
- Experience working directly with Engineering and Product teams on automation.
- Strong judgment under ambiguity.
