About the Role

Join a fast-growing Canadian P&C insurer to advance the Actuarial Services function. You will build next-generation predictive analytics solutions using machine learning and AI to transform raw data into actionable business insights, contributing directly to core operations like pricing, underwriting, and claims.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver value through algorithm and model-driven insights using classification, regression, and clustering.
  • Apply ML/AI algorithms in a business context under senior guidance.
  • Design and apply optimization solutions given specific constraints.
  • Extract data from relational and distributed databases using SQL and PySpark.
  • Assist engineering partners in building automated data pipelines for model delivery.
  • Support the deployment of machine learning models into production environments using CI/CD and MLOps practices.
  • Develop models through advanced feature engineering using tools like MLflow and Databricks.
  • Integrate ML/AI algorithms into core claims functions.
  • Assist in designing prototypes, analyses, and visualizations.
  • Interact with business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the validity of proposed solutions.
  • Communicate technical results clearly in written and verbal formats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, CS, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or Economics.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an ML/AI development role building and deploying models in production.
  • Strong hands-on experience with classical ML (GLMs, LightGBM, XGBoost) and modern NLP (BERT, embeddings, LLMs, Hugging Face, RAG).
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud/ML platforms such as Databricks and Azure.
  • Experience with model governance, MLOps, and performance monitoring.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
