About the Role
The Retirement Plan Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, management, funding, compliance, reporting, communications, and oversight of all retirement plans offered by AHRC Nassau and its affiliate companies. The incumbent will collaborate with the Director to provide strategic leadership in managing the Retirement Plans, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting employees with information about their retirement options. Responsibilities
- Administers all retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), pension, deferred compensation programs, legacy pension plans and annuity plans.
- Serves as a resource for employees, retirees, and management/leadership.
- Facilitates all necessary transactions, including employee enrollment in plans, employee contributions, loan requests, and employer contributions.
- Ensures company stays appraised of and in compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.
- Stays current on legislation and implications for benefit plans.
- Prepares reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies.
- Works closely with other personnel in HR, Finance, Payroll, and internal partners along with external vendors to conduct daily operations and implement retirement benefit strategies.
- Interprets plan documents, drafts plan documents, prepares and files IRS determination letter applications for qualified plans, assists with benefit issues, researches, and assists with legal issues surrounding plan administration and corrections of plan failures.
- Analyzes retirement benefits costs and policies to reflect trends and maintain current legislative requirements.
- Prepares reporting for the IRS and Department of Labor; preparing supporting forms and documentation for the proper operation and administration of employee benefits plans.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding retirement benefits and related plan documents.
- Collaborates with other HR personnel to provide guidance to leadership on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation.
- Responsible for timely and accurate retirement plan funding for all plans and timely corrections that may include lost earning calculations.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five (5) years’ experience in Retirement Benefits or Human Resources or related field, or any appropriate combination of education and experience required.
- Knowledge of retirement benefits and general human resources regulations and laws required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to operate efficiently autonomously required.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel required.
