About the Role

At Rebecca School, we support students ages 3–21 with neurodevelopmental delays through the DIRFloortime® model. Guided by values of respect, relationships, and emotional growth, we help students connect and thrive. Join us and make a lasting difference in their lives. We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and flexible Art Teacher to join our team as a maternity leave replacement. The Art Teacher will work with students across multiple age groups and ability levels, adapting lessons to meet individual needs while fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression through visual art.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate art lessons tailored to the students needs and developmental capacity
  • Adapt instruction and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, sensory needs, and motor abilities
  • Create a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to align art instruction with the school’s DIRFloortime® principles.
  • Maintain a safe and organized art classroom and manage supplies

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with special needs and/or autism strongly preferred
  • Understanding of sensory-sensitive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction
  • Strong classroom management skills with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
