About the Role

Manage insurance and surety programs, providing guidance and solutions to commercial construction clients. Lead problem-solving for insurance solutions with teams and clients to ensure compliance with insurance and surety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Apply a consultative approach to manage client insurance and surety programs.
  • Oversee placement and management of active programs and termination of programs, including associated costs.
  • Build trusted partnerships and maintain relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction with inquiries, problems, and requests related to client insurance programs.
  • Act as a regional subject matter expert of insurance and surety programs, procedures, and practices.
  • Manage lines of commercial insurance relevant to clients, including Commercial General Liability, Builders Risk, Workers Compensation, Professional Liability, Contractor’s Pollution Liability, Commercial Automobile Liability, CCIP, and OCIP.
  • Leverage internal teams, project resources, and clients to review, evaluate, and draft appropriate contract language compliant with client’s insurance protocols.
  • Collaborate with client leadership in promotion and placement of clients’ insurance programs to enhance new business development opportunities and implement best-in-class risk management practices.
  • In partnership with Business Development, review, evaluate, and draft responses for insurance sections of RFPs, RFQs, and SOQs for clients.
  • Manage and/or conduct analysis, review, and approval of standard contract insurance placement.
  • Present recommendations and/or support team’s presentation of analysis to clients.
  • Work in collaboration with internal resources to strategize on insurance and surety solutions for large, complex, and/or atypical projects not included with client’s standard programs.
  • Manage communication processes to deliver and resolve sensitive and confidential client information with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate lean leadership and evaluate processes for continuous improvement opportunities to increase responsiveness, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Establish and share best practices across the team.
  • Leverage historical data from prior projects to identify risk factors and create impact analysis summaries to assist clients in project tracking and premium projections.
  • Develop and/or leverage existing training materials to train various target audiences on insurance programs.
  • Mentor and manage a team of Insurance Analysts and Insurance Coordinators, overseeing respective tasks and deliverables and nurturing career development goals.
  • Participate in the hiring process, onboard, and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports.
  • Execute/contribute to performance appraisals during the annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
  • Participate in industry events, represent the company, and set standards as an industry leader.
  • Perform other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of insurance or business-related experience required with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited degree program in Business, Insurance, Risk Management or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Possess current and active professional designation such as ARM, CRIS or other relevant designation.
  • Possess or willing to attain and maintain state insurance consultancy license.
  • Familiar with State and local jurisdiction insurance and claims regulations.
  • Construction industry or related risk management experience is highly preferred.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of contracts, commercial insurance policies, surety products, and risk management principles.
  • Excellent comprehension of commercial insurance and coverages as applicable to construction and construction-related industries.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Process critical thinking skills with sound judgment decision-making.
  • Analytical and adept at processing and breaking down data into actionable information.
  • Self-starter with project management skills and capable of managing concurrent complex projects and tasks, and client requests, successfully to completion.

  • Professional business writing skills and ability to draft language for contractual insurance reviews.
  • Supervisory and management skills, capable of managing and developing remote teams.

  • Engage professionally to address and discuss confidential information.
  • Ability to explain complex insurance concepts to others with varying levels of insurance knowledge.
  • Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, and insurance-based risk management information systems.
  • Limited travel required: travel modes include air, train, vehicle.

  • NY & NJ Salary Ranges: $141,000-180,000 (depending on experience)
  • CT Salary Ranges: $128,000-164,000 (depending on experience)
