About the Role

The Senior Financial Analyst plays an integral role on the Tax and Financial Reporting team, assisting in the management of corporate tax, indirect tax compliance, and reporting across multiple provinces within a large Canadian group.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and collate information required for Canadian corporate income tax and partnership tax returns.
  • Calculate tax distributions and dividends to partners.
  • Calculate current tax provisions, analyze variances, process tax journals, and support month-end financial close.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of Tax Provision general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare accurate working papers to facilitate smooth submission for tax returns.
  • Prepare monthly GST/HST and QST filings.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of GST/HST/PST general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain monthly records of Legal Entity Tax Attributes.
  • Assist the team in collating information required from tax authorities during audits and enquiries.
  • Conduct technical tax research when required.
  • Foster discussions with colleagues within Finance and Tax to drive process improvements.
  • Assist with corporate tax payments and GST/HST payments when due.
  • Perform monthly tracking of fixed asset additions, transfers, and retirements.
  • Run monthly depreciation and amortization calculations.
  • Reconcile Fixed Asset Continuity schedules to the general ledger.
  • Prepare reconciliation between accounting and tax movement in Fixed Assets to support Schedule 8 of the corporation tax return.
  • Support the Group’s Capital Management Cycle, including project approval, account analysis, and capex versus opex analysis.
  • Participate in ad hoc Financial Projects as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of accounting or financial report analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of legal entity accounting.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

Salary/Compensations

  • $85,000–$95,000 per year
