About the Role

Performs high-quality electromyographic (EMG) and electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures for nerve conduction studies and testing. Ensures compliance, confidentiality, and promotes the organization's mission and philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Operates EMG equipment for diagnosis of muscle disease and denervation, determining conduction velocity and latency times.
• Assists physicians in performing advanced EMG techniques for specific neurological diseases.
• Performs EEG testing according to department policy, focusing on patient comfort and physician needs.
• Obtains and documents required medical information.
• Explains procedures, alleviates fears, and elicits patient cooperation.
• Identifies and eliminates artifact contamination in EEG and video recordings.
• Acquires, reviews, and presents selected data to the clinical neurophysiologist.
• Follows proper protocol after completing LTME procedures.
• Explains procedures and preparation to patients, ensuring their comfort.
• Applies and fills electrodes.
• Completes paperwork, including charge slips for EEG.
• Monitors patient's condition during testing.
• Performs all aspects of EEG/EMG recordings professionally and according to departmental policy.
• Collaborates with team members to ensure safe and accurate patient care delivery.
• Provides precise documentation on all recorded procedures.
• Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
• Addresses patient problems as they arise and escalates to physician or management if needed.
• Performs procedures professionally and according to physician's orders.
• Computes and records graphic data, analyzes results, and reports findings.
• Cleans, adjusts, and performs routine maintenance and repair on equipment.
• Troubleshoots routine equipment problems.
• Orders supplies when needed.
• Assumes responsibility for patient testing, quality control, and quality improvement.
• Performs all aspects of patient care optimizing safety and reducing medical errors.
• Adheres to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
• Maintains regular and dependable attendance.
• Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of EEG training program OR two or more years of EEG experience.
• Familiarity with the International 10-20 system of EEG electrode placement.
• Successful completion of a two-year college program in Neurodiagnostic Technology OR Associate’s degree in health sciences or related field OR two or more years of EMG experience.
• Certified by the American Association of Electromyography Technicians.
• Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card.
• Must maintain current Electromyography Technicians and CPR certifications during employment.
