About the Role

Performs a variety of routine tasks in the main kitchen, tray line, dishwashing area and cafeteria according to standard practices and procedures. Complies with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serves assigned duties to ensure timely and efficient meal service to patients, guests, and employees at Vassar Brothers Hospital.
• Serves on the cafeteria steam table to ensure timely and effective meal service to employees and visitors.
• Delivers and retrieves meal trays for patients at their bedside, special functions, and nourishments.
• Scrapes dirty patient trays to prepare them for washing.
• Washes dishes, pots, and utensils to ensure proper sanitation.
• Handles and distributes clean wares after washing/sanitizing.
• Prepares salads and other cold items for service to patients, guests, employees, and special functions.
• Prepares desserts, nourishments, and tube feedings for patient service.
• Prepares desserts for cafeteria service.
• Maintains kitchen areas free of debris and ensures proper sanitary conditions.
• Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors, and hospital personnel.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
