Responsibilities
- Drive origination and execution of leveraged loan and high yield bond transactions across EMEA.
- Provide corporate finance advice related to capital structures and funding alternatives in the non-investment grade space.
- Cover key non-investment grade clients from a Capital Markets perspective.
- Identify business opportunities, foster relationships, and generate ideas for MUFG’s existing and prospective clients in collaboration with Corporate and Financial Sponsor Coverage teams, as well as the Leveraged Syndicate & Sales team.
- Pursue a product-agnostic strategy between leveraged loans and high yield to deliver the best advice to clients and maximize revenue.
- Promote global collaboration to ensure the best financing solutions are delivered to clients by leveraging MUFG’s global Capital Markets capabilities.
- Contribute to the overall growth and success of MUFG’s strategy.
- Manage and mentor junior staff.
- Build and manage key client relationships from a Capital Markets perspective.
- Proactively create new business proposals that meet clients’ needs.
- Anticipate and meet client inquiries with competitive and appropriately-structured solutions to access capital in covered markets/products.
- Develop a strategy for both leveraged corporate and sponsor-driven capital markets transactions with internal partners.
- Contribute to MUFG’s revenue targets and enhance the worldwide MUFG franchise through appropriate collaboration within and across regions.
- Promote cross-market sales opportunities for other products throughout the MUFG platform.
- Clearly explain the risks and rewards of products to clients and provide necessary information for informed judgment about transactions.
- Assist the Head of EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in setting strategic direction and objectives.
- Review potential growth areas and ensure strong execution to capture opportunities.
- Pursue a key growth strategy for the Leveraged Capital Markets team.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and help build scalable solutions that drive growth and improve business performance.
- Represent EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in front of internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to a strong risk culture.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards, and procedures.
- Help develop and review product-related policies for the EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets business.
- React to client inquiries in a risk-sensitive manner, ensuring proposed solutions are appropriate and meet KYC requirements while minimizing risks for MUFG.
- Implement processes and standards ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct business in line with regulatory requirements.
- Manage junior team members effectively and ensure they have appropriate development opportunities.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to junior team members and other internal stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to junior team members, ensuring clarity on expectations and performance against key performance indicators.
- Contribute to MUFG and Capital Markets being regarded as an employer of choice in the region.
- Develop strong internal networks and build trusted relationships to enable change, share best practices, provide support, and influence behavior across MUFG.
- Work with other global Capital Markets teams to deliver MUFG’s Capital Markets strategy.
- Maintain and enhance good working relationships with other stakeholders, including Coverage and other product partners, and Global Markets for Originate-to-Distribute strategy.
Requirements
- Relevant and recent Leveraged Finance experience with an established international institution.
- Excellent knowledge of leveraged loan and high yield bond transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead transactions from idea generation and origination to execution of mandates.
- Existing relationships with major market participants.
- University degree or equivalent work experience.
- Fluent English.
- Other European languages beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to lead client dialogue.
- Strong team player with ambition to join a growing platform.
- Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to operate with urgency and prioritize work accordingly.
- Strong decision-making skills, the ability to demonstrate sound judgment.
