About the Role

Responsible for supporting the Business Banking Workout group, specializing in debt negotiation, repossession, foreclosure, property preservation, tax reporting, insurance monitoring, and bankruptcy processing. Serves as a key contact for internal and external counsel and prepares equity analysis for Workout strategies.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex accounts involving Commercial Litigation, Foreclosure/REO, Settlement, and Collateral sales.
• Collaborate with Workout Relationship Manager and counsel to establish effective legal strategies and contain costs.
• Initiate contact with business partners and vendors to ensure service level agreements are met.
• Negotiate sale and settlement agreements.
• Participate in loss prevention through advanced strategies to protect M&T's interest in collateral.
• Work with Property Preservation vendors to secure collateral.
• Review collateral condition, establish asset value, monitor appraisals, tax status, and environmental reports, providing updated equity analysis and recommendations.
• Negotiate sales with prospective buyers and conclude transactions with limited oversight.
• Coordinate and negotiate sales with prospective buyers and Work Out Officers.
• Maintain understanding of and protect Small Business Association guaranty.
• Review and approve attorney SmartSpend fees and track expenses at the customer level.
• Responsible for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the business, its functions, processes, and operations.
• Stay informed about business and market trends affecting the business and department.
• Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls according to Company or regulatory standards and policies.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and addressing issues raised by regulators.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A combined total of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience.
• A minimum of 3 years’ relevant banking experience.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
