About the Role
The Restaurant General Manager is the strategic leader and visionary for all aspects of restaurant operations. In this executive role, you will guide the team as a driver of professionalism, financial agility, and overall operational excellence. By seamlessly blending business acumen with luxury hospitality standards, you will ensure a world-class dining experience for all guests while maximizing profitability and cultivating a high-performing management team.
Responsibilities
- Drives the restaurant management team to define, align, and execute clear strategies and operational priorities that consistently deliver an excellent luxury experience.
- Partners closely with the Store General Manager, Regional Director of Restaurants, and Corporate Food Service to align the restaurant’s vision with broader corporate goals.
- Conducts daily briefings with the Store General Manager and Regional Director to proactively review, address, and resolve any operational or business challenges.
- Cultivates and builds deep relationships with our premium client base to enhance brand loyalty and deepen the customer's overall connection with Saks Global.
- Oversees the creation, finalization, and achievement of seasonal profit plans, maintaining absolute accountability for the restaurant's financial health.
- Analyzes inventory metrics, batch invoices, month-end forecasts, and preliminary profit and loss (P&L) reports to protect and drive the bottom line.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate paperwork and POS reports, monitoring operational metrics against fiscal targets.
- Drives the team to achieve and maintain a 90% score or better on seasonal secret shop reports and local health sanitation evaluations.
- Ensures the restaurant team flawlessly meets all designated operational deadlines in accordance with the Saks Global corporate calendar.
- Champions the development and flawless execution of all high-profile restaurant promotions, private bookings, and special events.
- Directly oversees the performance management, professional growth, and development of the restaurant's management team and direct reports.
- Fosters an inclusive, high-standard workplace, ensuring all Associates treat customers and colleagues with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
- Empowers the management team to implement and maintain rigorous, ongoing training programs across all critical operational tasks.
- Partners strategically with the People Business Partner (PBP) on talent acquisition, payroll compliance, benefits, and employee relations.
- Enforces and upholds all Saks Global corporate policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards.
- Leads daily communications with the restaurant management team regarding business needs, scheduling efficiencies, financial reports, upcoming events, and employee relations.
- Represents the restaurant as the key liaison in weekly department manager meetings, cascading relevant news and collaborating on store-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive hospitality management experience, with a proven track record of running high-volume, premium, or luxury restaurant operations.
- 4-year degree preferred, or equivalent executive career experience.
- Advanced financial acumen and analytical skills, with extensive experience in restaurant P&L analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
- A documented track record of achieving business results and driving growth across multiple business units or revenue streams.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to tactfully advise, counsel, coach, resolve conflict, and negotiate across all levels of the organization.
- A strong champion of a collaborative "win together" corporate culture.
- Proficiency with MS Office Product Suite and Google Workspace, with advanced proficiency preferred.
- Role requires physical stamina for standing, walking the floor, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule tailored to premium retail and hospitality business needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
