About the Role

Serve as the first point of contact for patients in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting clinic operations through patient scheduling, registration, and flow management. Provide hands-on assistance with preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing/updating patient information. Facilitate clear communication between patients, providers, and the team, while maintaining MSK’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and infection control.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for our patients in the outpatient clinic setting
  • Support clinic operations through patient scheduling, registration, and flow management
  • Provide hands-on assistance with preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing/updating allergies/pharmacy/medication lists as needed
  • Facilitate timely and clear communication between patients, providers, and the team
  • Maintain MSK’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and infection control are met
  • Serve as an advocate for patient comfort, access, and satisfaction throughout the care journey

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare, clinical support, medical office, patient-facing or customer service role (e.g., medical office assistant, front desk, or retail setting)
  • Ability to work onsite in a clinical environment, including performing basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs
  • Employees in this role are required to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and must be fit-tested for N95 respirators as part of MSK’s safety protocols.

Location

  • MSK Commack, 650 Commack Road, Commack, NY 11725

Work Type

  • Fully onsite
  • 10-hour shifts, 4 days/week
  • Hours vary between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm (Monday-Friday, occasional weekends)
  • Schedules are provided one week in advance, and flexibility between shifts is expected.
