About the Role

Corus Radio has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Talk & Talent to join our team in Toronto. This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing programming strategies and talent initiatives that drive audience engagement across broadcast, digital, streaming, podcast, and visual radio platforms. The successful candidate will lead a team of talk radio professionals, fostering talent development, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and ensuring operational excellence through strategic content planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Daily management of Programming and Talk Talent in Toronto.
  • Direct responsibility for ratings, streaming, digital and social media growth for AM640.
  • Implementation of detailed strategic and operating plans.
  • Development and mentorship of direct reports and on-air talent.
  • Collaboration with the VP of Radio to implement broad strategic initiatives at both the market and station level.
  • Representation of Corus and AM 640 in the Toronto community.
  • Oversight on quality, content and execution of the on-air product.
  • Development and execution of podcast and visual radio.
  • Responsible for programming budget.
  • Digital footprint – content and development.
  • Creative sales integration, collaboration and partner in revenue growth.
  • Coaching, scheduling, and talent management.
  • Compliance with CRTC regulatory requirements.
  • Promoting a positive, high-performing work culture.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in radio broadcasting or broadcast communications or equivalent.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in radio operations (on-air would be considered an asset).
  • Must have radio programming experience and experience managing teams, as well as on-air talent.
  • Ability to coach and direct on-air talent as individuals and as a team with an inspiring personality.
  • A willingness to collaborate and share ideas across various Corus Programming platforms / teams.
  • A demonstrated understanding of multi–platform branding – on-air / online / on-site.
  • Adaptable, comfortable in a fast paced and continuously evolving industry.
  • Ability to build solid relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Direct experience in successfully leading and managing the Programming department and Operations at radio stations.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the integration of radio and online as parts of a multi-platform brand.
  • Experience in successfully managing the Programming department of a radio station is a plus.
