About the Role
SickKids Foundation is seeking a Manager, Legal & Risk Management for an 18-month contract term. This role is pivotal to the Foundation’s legal operations and enterprise risk management framework, providing leadership in risk management, driving legal and operational activities, and optimizing processes. The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic operator adept at managing legal, risk, and governance frameworks into practical organizational practices.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and revise standard-form agreements, correspondence, and memorandums in collaboration with Legal Counsel.
- Optimize legal intake, triage, and tracking processes for efficient service delivery.
- Drive the development and continuous improvement of legal templates, playbooks, and internal guidance materials.
- Identify and implement opportunities to modernize legal workflows, tools, and systems.
- Conduct research, analyze information, and prepare briefing notes, memoranda, presentations, and communications.
- Manage administrative functions for the Legal department, including filing systems, document management, invoice and expense payments, and calendar coordination.
- Collaborate with Foundation teams to deliver successful legal services.
- Lead the execution and continuous enhancement of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program.
- Drive the development, maintenance, and evolution of the Foundation’s risk register.
- Lead the preparation of Risk Management Committee materials.
- Prepare risk presentations, risk reports, and dashboards for the Senior Management Team and Board Committees.
- Identify emerging risks, assess impacts, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide ERM recommendations and liaise with senior leadership on risk deliverables.
- Champion continuous improvement of risk frameworks, governance practices, and reporting processes.
- Provide project management expertise for cross-functional initiatives.
- Lead the tracking and monitoring of project deliverables to ensure timely completion within scope and objectives.
- Drive structured decision-making, problem-solving, and issue resolution.
- Establish and reinforce project governance, accountability, and reporting structures.
- Engage project stakeholders and communicate project updates.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in legal operations, risk management, or a related field.
- Experience drafting and reviewing agreements and managing contract lifecycle processes.
- Experience leading risk programs.
- Proven ability to drive initiatives, influence stakeholders, and operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
