About the Role

The Intake Counselor assists the Program Director in developing and maintaining substance abuse treatment services. This role oversees clinical aspects of treatment admissions, assessments, transfers, referrals, and program completion, ensuring compliance with agency and regulatory standards. Schedule options include Monday-Friday (Early & Evening Shifts) and Tuesday-Saturday (Early & Evening Shifts).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the assessment and intake process to ensure appropriate level of care determination, client engagement, and adherence to regulatory and clinical standards.
  • Facilitate communication between program locations for timely access to MAT prescribers.
  • Utilize and supervise others in Motivational Interviewing (MI) to engage prospective clients.
  • Monitor metrics for MAT access, client engagement, and connection to treatment services.
  • Identify and assist in problem-solving issues impacting open access, MAT services, and client engagement.
  • Ensure smooth onsite operation of the MAT Hub and manage client flow.
  • Maintain compliance with agency standards for access to care and provide expedited intake services.
  • Maintain contact with referral and regulatory agencies regarding client progress and compliance, and to ensure referrals.
  • Assist in developing new relationships with referral sources.
  • Work with staff to appropriately use SearchTreatment to connect individuals to services.
  • Serve as a liaison to AHN/RHS for referrals from other providers through SearchTreatment.
  • Screen prospective clients for social determinants of health and other needs.
  • Maintain relationships with outside agencies to stay informed of treatment advances and represent the agency.
  • Provide direct clinical services including assessment, individual, group, and family counseling, crisis intervention, and toxicology testing as needed.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of internal and external reports.
  • Ensure quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan.
  • Communicate any violations of the agency’s Medicaid compliance plan or personnel policies to the compliance officer and/or supervisory structure.
