About the Role
The Actuary will report to the Head of Pricing, Treaty Underwriting for Munich Reinsurance of Canada. The role is responsible for analyzing the profitability of treaty reinsurance, collaborating with underwriting and client management teams to ensure competitive pricing, and conducting strategic projects to support treaty portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Lead treaty reinsurance pricing independently by identifying cost drivers and defending assumptions
- Oversee multiple timelines to ensure a smooth treaty renewal process
- Assess pricing adequacy across varying contract terms and provide recommendations regarding regulatory frameworks
- Drive advanced portfolio analytics to identify trends and support strategic decision-making
- Oversee and guide the development, maintenance, and enhancement of actuarial models and pricing assumptions
- Lead strategic projects while managing stakeholder expectations
- Support reinsurance facultative and primary single risks pricing
- Provide CAT modelling support using industry and in-house software
- Provide recommendations for process improvements
- Provide peer review, training, and mentorship to junior analysts
- Attend industry seminars and workshops
Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or equivalent
- FCAS designation required for Actuary title
- Near FCAS or career ACAS with pricing experience considered for Senior Actuarial Associate level
- 5+ years of P&C actuarial work experience
- Prior experience in pricing required
- Experience in reinsurance pricing preferred
- Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions independently
- Proven experience leading projects and coaching junior staff
- Exceptional communication skills to distill complex technical concepts
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and adapt to changing demands
