About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the nurse manager or designee, the unit secretary directly supports all members of the nursing unit and indirectly with other ancillary departments, physicians, patients, and their families.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical and public relations duties on a nursing unit
- Provide quality non-direct patient care and non-clinical services by accurate and complete management of the patient medical record
- Maintain patient charts in appropriate and sequential order, per policy
- Alert appropriate personnel in emergency situations
- Transcribes appropriate and accurate information on patient records
- File reports and test results
- Set priorities, separates emergency/stat orders and requests from regular workflow
- Post and remove all departmental bulletin board notices. Ensure postings are timely and the most recent version
- Transport medications as defined and authorized by Pharmacy Services
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Ability to transcribe orders accurately within 3 months of hire
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Successful candidates might be required to undergo a background verification with an external vendor.
