About the Role

Originates mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory, taking applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting loan applications for approval. Ensures timely acquisition of necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing. This role involves sales activities away from U.S. Bank locations and requires NMLS registration.

Responsibilities

  • Originate mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory.
  • Take loan applications.
  • Conduct preliminary underwriting reviews.
  • Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval.
  • Follow up to ensure timely acquisition of documents for processing, underwriting, and closing.
  • Engage in making and soliciting loan sales and conducting sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically at least one year of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must be able to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies.
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z is required.
  • Subject to a criminal background and credit check for NMLS registration.
  • Failure to meet or maintain NMLS registration requirements may result in offer rescission or termination.

Skills

  • Well-developed sales ability.
  • Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies.
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors.
  • Basic knowledge of local, state and national laws (e.g. zoning ordinances, Truth-in Lending, RESPA, energy audit requirements, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to analyze financial information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
