About the Role
Embark on a high-impact opportunity as a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer, where you will help accelerate Barclays’ cloud modernization by designing and delivering secure, scalable, and resilient AWS solutions that power critical business capabilities. In this role, you will work with cloud technologies, enabling faster delivery, improved reliability, and enhanced customer experiences across the organization. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities.
- Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and contribute to technology communities.
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
- Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
- Lead a team performing complex tasks, using professional knowledge and skills to deliver work impacting the business function.
- Set objectives, coach employees, appraise performance, and determine reward outcomes.
- Lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments.
- Identify the need for inclusion of other areas of specialization to complete assignments.
- Identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, utilizing cross-functional methodologies or practices.
- Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders for escalated issues.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures.
- Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Perform work closely related to other areas, understanding coordination and contribution to organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with other areas for business-aligned support, staying updated on business activity and strategy.
- Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Communicate complex information, including sensitive or difficult-to-convey content.
- Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Requirements
- Software development building enterprise-grade applications
- Solid experience in micro-services architecture
- Experience with AWS Cloud Services - MSK, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Networking concepts, Cloud Formation to design and deploy scalable applications
- Experience with messaging platforms and integrations - Kafka, Webhooks & events streaming
