About the Role

Family Life Academy Charter School (FLACS) is seeking dynamic educators to support teaching staff in implementing instructional programs. The role focuses on enhancing teachers' ability to provide engaging instruction and foster student ownership of the learning process, working with administrators and teachers to guide instructional decisions through data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Supports and furthers the network and FLACS curriculum goals to support teacher pedagogical strategies.
• Coaches and mentors teachers by modeling strategies for student engagement and ownership of learning.
• Works with school leadership to create school-wide professional development goals that support student achievement.
• Provides individualized, classroom-based support for comprehensive programs, including modeling best teaching practices.
• Leads teacher teams and professional learning communities to improve professional practice.
• Collaborates with the director of professional development and instructional coaches at other sites to build capacity and share best practices.
• Participates in data meetings to examine student work and monitor progress on assessments.
• Participates in child study meetings concerning the academic progress of at-risk students.
• Participates in network meetings with leadership.
• Develops and implements professional development sessions for groups of teachers.
• Participates fully in professional development opportunities and research to stay up-to-date with current educational research.
• Upholds the FLACS mission, core beliefs, and educational philosophy.
• Reflects on practice and strives to improve effectiveness and guide professional growth.
• Engages and collaborates with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations for student learning.
• Demonstrates self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required
• NYS teaching certification in a relevant area
• At least 5 years of successful teaching experience in a relevant content/grade band
• Previous coaching or mentoring experience strongly preferred
• Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check
