Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the house and implement agency mission and goals.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Coordinate with Service Coordinator, Nurse, and Clinician for program planning and health needs.
  • Serve as a role model and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Supervise staff, conduct performance appraisals, and communicate regularly.
  • Coordinate and implement individual objectives.
  • Oversee house organization, maintenance, and follow-up on maintenance requests.
  • Train new and existing staff on house functions and provide ongoing training.
  • Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and supervision.
  • Ensure timely completion of residential support assessments.
  • Manage record keeping, including logs, clinical/medical files, financial records, incident reports, fire safety documentation, mileage and maintenance logs, data collection, goal sheets, attendance records, and supply inventories.
  • Be on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.
  • Manage house petty cash, food stamps, and individual petty cash, ensuring accurate receipts and balances.
  • Ensure appropriate menu planning in conjunction with the Nurse and Dietician.
  • Supervise medication ordering and delivery, review medication logs, and check the medication lock box.
  • Hire and fire employees, and make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, and advancement.
  • Maintain professional conduct with external agencies, families, and community programs.
  • Perform direct care responsibilities, including physical intervention like lifting or transferring individuals.
  • Conduct investigations as assigned.
  • Provide initial 30-day and quarterly/semi-annual summary updates.
  • Maintain required trainings and documentation on provided systems and logs.
  • Coordinate shopping trips.
  • Ensure individuals are neatly dressed and groomed.
  • Provide staffing coverage as needed.
  • Schedule recreational activities and ensure goals are followed.
  • Ensure staff maintain required trainings within the timeline.
  • Supervise light maintenance, including repairs, snow removal, lawn care, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Keep all individual records and evaluations confidential.
  • Schedule medical and clinical appointments and ensure follow-up.
  • Plan and coordinate vacations for individuals.
  • Participate in required staff in-service training programs.
  • Carry out other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • One year of supervisory experience required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and insurable under New Hopes’s insurance regulations.
  • Possession and maintenance of certification to administer medication is mandatory.
