About the Role
FP Canada is seeking a Junior Accountant to support the day-to-day operations of the Finance team and contribute to accurate, timely, and effective financial processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience and advance their CPA journey.
Responsibilities
- Perform accounts payable, expense management, and receivable functions, including bank payment preparation and processing.
- Monitor and reconcile employee credit card expenses.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain assigned general ledger components.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, year-end audits, journal entry preparation, account analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Provide support during audits and tax preparation, including timely and accurate responses to auditor queries.
- Support the onboarding and training of new employees on FE NXT/Finance software, including expense management and account access.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy and understanding of accounts and reporting.
- Assist the Director, Finance with ad-hoc enquiries, projects, and activities.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger processes).
- Experience with accounting or financial management software is an asset.
- Currently enrolled in the CPA certification program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills (formulas, functions, pivot tables, charts).
