About the Role
Brown and Caldwell (BC) seeks a Regional Practice Leader (RPL) to expand and align Water Reuse capabilities (DPR, IPR, Non-Potable Reuse) across the West. As an employee-owner, you will shape and advance reuse strategies to support resilient water supplies, balancing growth leadership with oversight of quality, risk, and profitability. This strategic account leader role defines and advances multi-year growth strategies for priority clients, shapes client vision, aligns enterprise resources, and drives sustained revenue growth. The role requires consistent success in advancing long-term client relationships, leading high-performing Client Service Teams (CSTs), shaping growth strategy, winning complex pursuits, and delivering high-quality, profitable programs. You will translate client and market intelligence into actionable strategy, align multidisciplinary teams, and position BC as a trusted advisor, setting the tone and direction for the CST and aligning with Area and Market leadership priorities. The RPL is a key member of the Reuse Practice leadership team, partnering with the National Practice Leader (NPL) and Area Practice Leaders (APLs) to shape and execute regional strategy, focusing on developing talent, strengthening capabilities, supporting key pursuits, and aligning the practice with BC’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Align practice performance outcomes with Business Unit leaders quarterly.
- Lead the development and execution of the strategic growth plan for the Practice within the Business Unit, including 1-, 3-, and 5-year milestones.
- Lead the development and communication of the practice strategy and priorities to the CSTs.
- Win new work as Sales Leader and/or Technical Seller to support practice and Business Unit growth.
- Provide technical leadership of the practice portfolio of projects and pursuits to achieve BC business performance goals and client outcomes.
- Build and lead a high-performing team through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
- Lead practice planning within the Business Unit for staffing, revenue expectations, and resource allocation.
- Engage practice leadership for alignment of market trends, research and innovation with client needs.
- Engage enterprise technical SMEs and delivery leaders to integrate BC capabilities across client organizations.
- Oversee workload planning, performance management, and team operations.
- Adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Requirements
- Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and advance sales opportunities using BC’s Plan to Win (PTW) process.
- Advanced knowledge of practice leadership, business operations, and financial principles.
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to guide complex projects and pursuits.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, resource planning, utilization management, and profitability oversight.
- Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to drive practice growth and business objectives.
- Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, accountability, and team development.
- Strong collaboration and influence skills across business, technical, and delivery functions.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Advanced presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Typically, a minimum of 15 years’ experience in increasing responsibility roles including technical, operational, practice, or business leadership experience.
- Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, construction and operations industry.
- Experience in annual business planning, strategy development, workforce planning, staffing, revenue forecasting, and implementation.
- Experience developing and executing practice, market, or technical growth strategies with measurable outcomes.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams, including coaching, performance management, utilization planning, and resource allocation.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Increasingly responsible experience in water reuse.
- Experience with reuse planning, advanced treatment design, pilot/full‑scale treatment systems, and regulatory frameworks.
