About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Mid-Level Construction Estimator to join our preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of general/mixed construction projects, from initial conceptual budgets through final bid submission.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and other project documents across various project types and delivery methods (hard bid, design-build, negotiated).
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids/proposals.
  • Analyze historical cost data and market conditions to develop accurate unit pricing.
  • Assist in developing conceptual and preliminary budgets during early design phases.
  • Identify project scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare bid packages, scope sheets, and bid day summaries.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to validate assumptions and pricing.
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals, GMP documents, and change order estimates.
  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and unit price records.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as required.
  • Support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in construction estimating
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent field/estimating experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar) — willingness to learn our systems is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standard practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with project management software.
