Responsibilities
- Prepares for pre-assigned cases using physician preference.
- Sets up the operating room prior to surgery.
- Opens supplies/instruments utilizing aseptic technique.
- Passes instruments to surgeons during surgery.
- Follows established policies and procedures as it relates to counting of sponges, instruments etc.
- Initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and communicates effectively to ensure quality patient care.
- Performs any other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
- Must have surgical technician certification.
- Must meet NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law.
