About the Role
The Marketing & Communications team at The University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a dynamic Social Content Marketing Strategist to implement an integrated multi-channel social marketing strategy. This role involves creating compelling content, building engaging campaigns, and advising on best practices to maximize social advertising and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have an expert understanding of social platforms, crafting custom content, and a strong grasp of analytics to share the diverse stories of U of T Scarborough.
Responsibilities
- Implement social media communication plans across a broad range of marketing/communication channels.
- Advise on best practices and strategies to maximize social media initiatives.
- Develop a social media plan that supports marketing/communications strategy.
- Create and maintain presence on social media platforms and advise on best practices and strategies for content marketing.
- Develop and implement content generation and marketing plans that support strategic objectives.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with targeted social media communities.
- Analyze the effectiveness of campaigns and/or programs using metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree specializing in digital media, digital marketing, communications or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years experience implementing integrated multi-channel social marketing and communications strategies that drive strategic business objectives with successful social media campaigns.
- Proven experience conceptualizing, developing and executing high impact, social media marketing campaigns based on departmental strategic plans.
- Extensive experience managing LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, X, Threads, Bluesky and social media advertising (including paid) in a complex organization.
- Comprehensive understanding of Google Analytics and other ROI tracking tools.
- Demonstrated experience creating innovative digital marketing solutions.
- Proven ability to build highly engaged social communities.
- Demonstrated experience balancing competing priorities and multiple projects concurrently and within tight timelines.
- Well-informed on industry best practices and trends in digital communications.
- Demonstrated experience pitching original story ideas and completing all phases of the creative process including: concept development, research, interviews, writing, recording, editing, distribution, etc.
- Senior level writing and editing skills.
- Advanced content creation skills with vast experience and expertise in video production, editing, sound and lighting.
- Deep knowledge of digital media platforms, social media marketing and audience segmentation principles, practices and techniques to successfully expand online audiences.
- Thorough understanding of SEO and its function in driving content strategy.
- Well-informed on digital applicable copyright, access and privacy laws.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Superior communications skills both written and oral.
