About the Role
Join the Montefiore School Health Program as an LPN with an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS), supporting student health in a dynamic school-based setting. This role focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, and urgent clinical needs. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote wellness in underserved communities. Ideal for compassionate, adaptable nurses committed to pediatric and adolescent care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to a pediatric and adolescent student population under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Safely administer medications, treatments, and procedures within the LPN scope of practice; collect specimens and perform selected diagnostic tests (including venipuncture).
- Deliver clear patient/family teaching and discharge instructions tailored to the student’s developmental and cultural needs.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control, safety, and disaster policies; document all care, interventions, and observations accurately in the electronic health record.
- Partner with RNs and school staff to resolve patient care issues, manage competing demands, and adapt smoothly to the changing daily workflow of a school environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED minimum
- Current New York State LPN License & Registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Infection Control Certificate
- Effective written, oral, and interpersonal English communication skills
- Basic data entry and computer retrieval skills
- Must complete fingerprinting for Department of Education (DOE) and Justice Center Security Clearance
- Occupational Health Services (OHS) Annual Assessment & Fit Test
