About the Role

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated professional to aid patients in correcting and/or adjusting to upper extremity disabilities through specialized physical or occupational therapy procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients' functional upper extremity abilities and disabilities.
• Plans patient treatment programs based on diagnoses, prognosis, and patient needs.
• Instructs and counsels patients and families on equipment use and techniques.
• Evaluates home facilities and suggests necessary adaptations and resources.
• Recommends, obtains, and instructs on the use of adaptive and assistive devices.
• Ensures appropriate safety practices and equipment maintenance.
• Determines types and frequencies of therapies and provides treatments.
• Recommends program modifications to physicians as needed.
• Maintains required patient and department records.
• Stays current with field advancements through reading and professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy and completed relevant clinical education required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Basic foundational knowledge of Physical or Occupational Therapy Practice required.
• Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist license in New York State upon hire required.
