About the Role

The Commodity Buyer is responsible for deploying and developing the commodity strategy for assigned commodities, managing supplier relationships and negotiations, and ensuring supplier performance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for subcontract sourcing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, award, execution, and administration of subcontract purchase orders from new part production to production environment.
  • Ensure timely procurement and on-time delivery performance for assigned commodities/suppliers with an annual spend of $8 million.
  • Lead activities supporting production needs impacted by vendor performance with minimal impact to inventory position.
  • Lead negotiation of strategic agreements with vendors for stocking and pricing.
  • Assess vendor performance and lead vendor improvement activities to reduce risks to production and ensure Motivair’s Terms and Conditions of Purchase are upheld.
  • Participate and engage in Rep and Certification activities for new business.
  • Identify strategies and opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiations.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, operations, engineering, and quality.
  • Prepare and maintain subcontract files extensive and detailed enough to permit informed decision-making by management and successful audit.
  • Manage the invoice to pay process by ensuring accurate pay terms, release of payments, and resolving discrepant matters preventing payment.
  • Lead Buy American, Conflict Minerals Reporting, and other annual reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and understand Engineering Data and assess required flow downs to vendors.
  • Ability to comprehend and understand Customer commercial data and assess required flow downs to vendors.
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience understanding technical data.
  • Experience managing supplier development activities.
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation with savings.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 a plus.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Knowledge of commodity markets.
  • Blueprint reading and familiarity with eDrawing viewer.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Negotiation Skills.
