About the Role

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy is hiring Physical Therapist Aides to serve as floaters, providing coverage throughout Central and Eastern Long Island. This role supports patient care across all clinics in the region, with clinic locations varying based on staffing needs and scheduling demands. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy.
  • Prepare heat and ice packs, paraffin dips, and assist patients to the pool.
  • Guide patients to exercise equipment, monitor motion, and track physical exertion levels.
  • Guide patients through prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
  • Ensure operation of treatment equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
  • Prepare patients for therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, providing, and/or assisting patients into therapy sessions.
  • Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests, and allaying fears.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering them to the treatment area, positioning equipment for therapist access, and positioning patients on equipment.
  • Prepare the treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients using exemplary customer service skills.
  • Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Provide front desk coverage as needed, including answering calls and assisting with scheduling.
  • Perform other front desk duties and assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to cover 15-20 minutes from your home office.
  • Responsible for transportation to and from work, including any coverage shifts accepted.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
  • Ability to assist or find appropriate assistance to make accommodations for disabled individuals to ensure access to the company’s services.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology
