About the Role

Okta is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join its Public Sector and Regulated Offerings Legal Team. This role provides frontline legal counseling for Okta’s critical regulated environments, navigating U.S. government regulatory frameworks and partnering with business and technology teams to guide the development and implementation of Public Sector solutions. The team drives legal strategy for introducing new products and features into regulated environments like FedRAMP, GovRAMP, and DoD CC SRG.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end legal support for Okta’s Public Sector teams, focusing on Regulated Products and Services.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on emerging cloud service policies, educating internal teams on shifting regulations.
  • Partner with cross-functional legal counsel to ensure our products meet rigorous U.S. and international regulatory standards.
  • Embed with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Security teams to navigate compliance frameworks and authorizations processes (e.g., FedRAMP) from conception to launch.

Requirements

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment and can pivot as business goals evolve.
  • A deep understanding of the unique legal and regulatory hurdles associated with U.S. regulated industries, specifically: FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement.
  • Identify problems and design effective, scalable solutions that help the business move faster.
  • Thrive in a hybrid team setting, building strong relationships with internal partners to achieve strategic goals.
  • Hands-on experience with or a strong understanding of AI platforms and tools to optimize internal legal workflows.
  • 5–7+ years of legal practice, with at least 2 years focused on U.S. Public Sector and Regulated Products.
  • Military Judge Advocate and U.S. Federal Civilian service attorney advisor experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record supporting IT products, and SaaS business models.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Federal, state, and local regulations impacting tech.
  • A “roll up your sleeves” mentality; you are comfortable independently navigating issues “of first impression.”
  • The ability to maintain high standards and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Salary/Compensations

  • $180,000—$248,000 USD
