About the Role
This role involves managing workflow, troubleshooting complex equipment problems, and potentially leading the department by providing training, enforcing policies, and leading meetings. The individual will be knowledgeable in all aspects of Finishing, Coating, and/or Generating process technology for assigned equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to lab personnel by completing complex machine repair requests, chemical tests/changes and equipment changes on all designated production equipment.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance work on all designated production equipment.
- Manage workflow and scheduling to ensure jobs are completed and customer needs are met in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical problems with equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems with equipment.
- Communicate equipment status to production personnel, coworkers, and management.
- Perform general repairs on the building and grounds including rooftop filtering and HVAC equipment.
- Test, check, adjust and tune production equipment to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts and ordering when needed.
- Provide technical support to production supervisors for process innovation and improvement.
- Create and supervise cost saving, productivity and quality improvement projects.
- Assist in training of new hires and conduct training on any new products/process for all employees within the department.
- Specialize in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and modification of all types of Coating equipment and/or finishing and/or generating equipment.
- Schedule and assist in maintenance of Finishing, Coating and/or generating processes and/or finishing equipment
- Maintain accurate records and issue complete and timely reports on equipment operations.
- Log and maintain equipment performance data.
- Lead, facilitate and document department meetings.
- Assist in maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used.
- Perform basic plumbing tasks including soldering and pipe fitting.
- Perform basic metal fabrication and welding.
- Maintain accurate hazardous waste shipping files if needed.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing machine, building, and grounds maintenance.
- Perform daily lab safety audits to determine if anything does not meet requirements.
Requirements
- High School education or equivalent required.
- 3+ years previous related experience and/or training with proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment both electronically and mechanically required.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in the complete process of lens creation and /or AR coating process.
Skills
- Knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment preferred (e.g., multimeter and amp meter).
- Basic understanding of PLC operation preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams preferred.
- Basic refrigeration knowledge helpful.
