About the Role

The Facility Manager is accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant infrastructure and utilities supporting manufacturing operations. This role drives world-class facility performance through strong maintenance practices, reliability engineering, cost optimization, and alignment with integrated supply chain objectives. The position plays a critical role in enabling production continuity, protecting assets, and supporting a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manages change/transformation amongst Operating teams in the implementation of IL6S, FoF, AM, PM, and a 6-star model within operating Line teams to progress into Self-sufficient teams.
  • Supports the Manufacturing annual operational plans and targets to meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, Engagement goals.
  • Leads and is accountable to establish strong governance to review and control operational performance and Continuous Improvement plans.
  • Drives the Operating team to identify and manage improvements to technology, culture, capability, and operating systems.
  • Supports all Manufacturing standards, Governance, and Compliance requirements.
  • Leads and is accountable for Talent, Capabilities & Engagement for the Manufacturing team.
  • Partners effectively with all multi-functional peers internally & externally to achieve objectives, goals and KPI’s.
  • Champions a zero-harm culture aligned with company safety standards.
  • Ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies (HSE, food safety, GMP).
  • Leads risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and safe contractor management.
  • Owns emergency systems (fire protection, Security system, etc.).
  • Manages plant security (through 3rd party).
  • Manages facility cleaning program and cleaners.
  • Works closely with the plant sanitation team to ensure Mondelez food quality and safety program compliance.
  • Maintains proper documentation of records and participates in safety and quality audits.
  • Ensures uninterrupted supply of critical utilities (steam, compressed air, water, HVAC, power distribution).
  • Drives reliability of infrastructure systems using preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Owns and reduces utility-related downtime impacting production.
  • Monitors system performance using KPIs and condition-based tools.
  • Develops and implements best-in-class maintenance programs aligned with reliability principles (PM, PdM, BDE, RCM).
  • Utilizes CMMS (e.g., SAP PM) for planning, scheduling, and execution discipline.
  • Eliminates reactive maintenance by improving planning accuracy and backlog control.
  • Ensures effective shutdown planning and execution.
  • Develops long-term asset strategies and infrastructure master plans.
  • Supports capital projects related to facilities and utilities (capacity, modernization, compliance).
  • Optimizes lifecycle cost of assets through reliability and maintenance excellence.
  • Supports site master planning and future capability expansion.
  • Drives energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate goals.
  • Monitors and reduces consumption of electricity, gas, water, and compressed air.
  • Leads carbon footprint reduction initiatives and waste minimization.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental standards and reporting.
  • Manages third-party contractors and service providers with clear performance expectations.
  • Implements all maintenance and general procurement of sub-contractor services, schedules and installations, and oversees that such repairs are accomplished in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensures adherence to safety, quality, and technical standards.
  • Optimizes contractor spend while building internal capability.
  • Drives accountability through KPIs and service level agreements.
  • Manages facility OPEX and participates in developing facilities CAPEX budgets.
  • Identifies and executes cost optimization opportunities without compromising reliability.
  • Tracks financial performance and delivers within cost targets.
  • Applies Lean, TPM, and reliability engineering principles to facility operations.
  • Eliminates losses related to utilities and infrastructure inefficiencies.
  • Drives root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving culture.
  • Uses data and digital tools to improve decision-making.
  • Partners with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Supports operational targets (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
  • Acts as a key contributor to site leadership and transformation initiatives.
  • Builds capability within the team and reduces dependency on external support.
  • Drives a culture where “zero losses” and “zero breakdowns” are actively pursued.
  • Acts as a role model for ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong operational & manufacturing leadership experience in CPG industry with experience in TPM, 5s, LEAN, 6 sigma tools and concepts.
  • Demonstrated abilities in Analytics, problem solving and team building.
  • An Engineer with a strong financial & business acumen, project management skills and Knowledge of industrial maintenance and manufacturing equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Equivalent Experience.
  • 3rd or 2nd class power engineer preferred.
  • 7–12 years of experience in facility maintenance and management in FMCG or food manufacturing.
  • Strong expertise in utilities systems (boilers, refrigeration, compressed air, electrical distribution).
  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) for plant facility equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with SAP PM or similar CMMS.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.

Salary/Compensations

  • $93,300 to $116,650 CAD
