About the Role

This position is responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development, and maintenance of best-in-class software experiences. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles, taking responsibility for software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, operating, and maintaining products
• Taking full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code
• Creating optimal designs adhering to architectural best practices, considering scalability, reliability, and performance
• Performing analysis on failures, proposing design changes, and encouraging operational improvements
• Making sound design/coding decisions keeping customer experience in the forefront
• Taking feedback from code review and applying changes to meet standards
• Conducting code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance
• Ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices
• Exhibiting relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards
• Embracing emerging technology opportunities and contributing to best practices
• Contributing to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Reviewing tasks critically and ensuring they are appropriately prioritized and sized
• Anticipating and communicating blockers and delays before they require escalation
• Architecting and implementing high-performing software applications
• Being responsible for application performance, complex APIs, and integration across multiple applications
• Working cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other partner teams to deliver well-engineered experiences

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
• Five to six years of relevant experience
• Experience leading development of modern web applications
• Strong backend + ML systems experience
• GenAI exposure
• ML platform engineering experience
• Strong AI/ML understanding (incl. embeddings)
• Leadership skills including mentoring and coaching engineers of all skill levels
• Ability to collaborate with partner engineering teams
• Expertise in agile development methodologies
• Strong analytical skills and ability to review code
